    Default Back to Basics

Past two weeks have been horrible from a teamwork and clean run standpoint. Many things can be attributed to it, but the single biggest thing is lack of preparedness and a bad attitude. Being prepared is something we can fix. Bad attitude is something we will be kicking people out for in the near future. I'd suggest every single one of you read (or re-read) the following guides and do you part to clean up the crap game play that's starting to become prevalent in these runs.

    http://forums.obsidianodin.com/showthread.php?t=1578 (Dynamis-Bastok)

    http://forums.obsidianodin.com/showthread.php?t=1580 (Dynamis-Sandoria)

    http://forums.obsidianodin.com/showthread.php?t=1581 (Dynamis-Windurst)

    http://forums.obsidianodin.com/showthread.php?t=1583 (Dynamis-Jeuno)

    http://forums.obsidianodin.com/showthread.php?t=1584 (Dynamis-Beaucedine)

Dynamis-Xarcabard is pretty self-explanatory. If you haven't figured out kill orders from the 5 other zones listed here + the fact they're actually named after their jobs, then you probably don't need to be on the front lines tanking.

I'm going to go down the list of things that need fixing:

    1. Tanking - Some of you I've warned personally several times (and are about to be kicked). Others haven't had much experience. Generally speaking, the more you know about the mobs we're fighting, the faster you choice of mobs will be.

The tank's purpose is to guide his/her alliance to the next mob. While you may believe you need to go all out and hold hate to save your alliance member's lives, you don't. 9/10, the mob will be dead before your provoke or flash timers are up again. On top of that, most of the melee that come into dynamis now have a way of defending themselves, even the ones subbing THF. They're not going to die if they get punched once or twice. Focus on moving from one mob to the next in the specific order that we have laid out.

    2. Crowd Control (mage) - This is to the BLMs specifically and to very few of the RDMs. Too many times have we seen BLMs completely ignore the huge train of mobs the puller is bringing back and immediately turn their attention to the statues. While the statues do present an issue, they're easily soloable and easily avoided (they move at a turtle's pace). I'm not saying BLMs should ALWAYS sleep first, I'm saying pay attention to your surroundings. Pay attention to the fact that in CoP zones or in Dynamis-Xarc, the RDMs are not going to have access to Sleepga due to subbing DRK. Pay attention to the number of RDMs that we bring into a zone. Some days we end up with 6 RDMs and 4 of them are stuck healing parties. Other days we end up with 6 RDMs and have 4 SMNs and 6 WHMs to heal everyone. It is not always, enter zone, nuke stat, doze off until next batch of statues or eyes come.

2a. Crowd Control (melee) - A lot of you have provoke. Use it. Keeping the sleepers alive = you staying alive. It doesn't get any more plain than that.

    3. Wipes - An occassional Astral Flow or Mijin Gakure can't be helped. They suck when they happen, but all we can do is pick ourselves up and keep moving. What's really going to irritate the sackholders and fellow members are when we wipe because we're somehow overwhelmed by 6 mobs. Things like fighting WHM mobs that 2 hour and wake up sleeping mobs, having autotarget turned on during dynamis and taking a swipe at an avatar, etc. Sackholders will be able to tell if we're going to wipe. When we say die, find the nearest mob, wake it up and get yourself killed. The longer you stay alive kiting mobs, the longer our recovery is going to take.

    4. Preparedness - Too many of you aren't bringing supplies. Reraise Gorgets/Hairpins/Earrings in particular. If this keeps up, I'm going to instruct any one with Raise to just cast it and not show any concern for your buffers. We'll know if it gets dispelled based on what we've fought recently, but from now on, if we wipe and you don't have RR up because you forgot your item, don't expect much sympathy for your buffer or the time you spend trying to get that back.

    5. AFK - Not official yet, but we're sick of this crap happening in the last 10 minutes and costing members items they're busting their asses for. I've put a motion into place for vote to immediately remove members found to be AFK in the last 10 minutes. Either log your ass out if you have to AFK or don't go AFK. It doesn't get any more black and white than that.

One other note, if any of you know anyone that doesn't read these forums regularly, get them to read this post.

To those of you that have to ask yourself the question "Is he referring to me in any of his comments?", I probably am. Learn from it.

Just a quick note to the RDMs. If you're not the main healer of your party, you should be subbing BLM (unless it's a /DRK area, obviously). I've noticed a lot of RDMs are getting into the habit of just running through zones only casting refresh. Every once in a while I'll see a situation that I'm spamming sleep on mobs, something wakes up while all my sleep timers are down, and a RDM will be standing right beside watching me die. This bugs me to hell.

Also please... to RDMs i know u're sleeping / curing / refreshing but pls pls toss a silence at some mobs, u don't need to do any other debuff, but silence it's awesome.

On BLMs avoids any -ga spell (very important Sleepga)
On RDMs avoids tanks getting Chain-nuked
On BRDs avoids them to Horde Lullaby us all
On WHMs to heal themselves/wake others
and so on.... think it's self explanatory...

sorry for my little rant... died too many times today cause of stupid things.

Just a FYI to people that don't know. Mobs cast sleepga/horde lullaby/breakga/silencega faster then a RDM can cast silence. A lot of times that stuff gets off because silence wore and someone is attempting to recast it, but failed because of the long cast time.

I generally do see RDMs attempt to keep silence up on annoying stuff.

The thing that was missed ( I think) or at least only mentioned breifly, was assist.

ONLY assist your alliances tank. NO ONE else. also NEVER engage ANY other mob. period. If your tank dies, assist the back up, or whomever a leader tells you to. If you hit any other mobs, you mpk a sleeper, and put a portion of the linkshell beyond that at risk.

Make make sure AutoTarget is off. Then you won't automatically attack something, which is also very very bad.

Also worth noting is we are in the process of creating threads for all jobs, to give instructions on specifics for anyone who has any questions.

    Black Mage on statues:

It takes 2-3 unresisted teir-IV nukes to kill a statue, usually just 2 teir-IV nukes and a teir-III nuke will be fine. If you see two other people firing at a statue with teir-IV nukes, just use a teir-III instead to save MP.

Black Mages should get to know the pulling route almost as well as pullers. The only thing we don't need to really know is sac-pulls. It pays to know where your puller is coming from and what they should be bringing back with them. Blue and Green eye statues are always in the same spots, for instance.

Don't damage the statue before its spawned mobs start to move. You can cast your spell before they move so long as you know it wont go off until the mobs are moving. If you damage that statue before the mobs have officially gone after the puller, they may go after you instead.

    Black Mage on sleeping:

If the Black Mage group is ahead of the melee alliances, try not to sleep mobs at the Black Mage camp. If you know that the other Black Mages can handle the statues, follow the puller's train to the melees and sleep them there. This allows them to both know that those mobs are around (the puller may go off, not realizing that you've slept 3 mobs near the Black Mages) and easily be within range to Provoke the slept mobs.

If you absolutely must sleep mobs near the Black Mage group, start heading towards the melee alliances so that when those mobs wake up they wont get a few free hits on you.

    Black Mage on enfeebling:

It is actually surprisingly easy for a Black Mage to enfeeble Dynamis mobs. Don't be afraid to toss a Silence on a spell-caster (or pet for that matter) or just help out with a Paralyze or Slow on a slept mob that is going to be fought soon.

I'm just gonna add, that, the people show up as jobs they sign the run for, alot of times, there are more rdm than needed, so something that could help, is figure out the subs at which all your rdm are, and get them situated, I'm leaving this to the leaders, b/c they are the ones assigning people to parties and what not.
